Villas-Boas is eye on signing £20million rated Rodwell, while Everton boss David Moyes earlier this week admitted the west London club were yet to make contact over a possible January transfer bid.

Daniele De Rossi has one year left on his contract with Roma and a new deal is yet to be agreed. He has put Chelsea and Manchester City on red alert by freezeing on a new contract. The Spain Under-21 international father has claimed 20-year-old Alcantara this week ended speculation about his future by signing a two-year deal extension at Camp Nou.

The FC Barcelona midfielder had also been linked with a move to Manchester United, the Premier League champions, with reports last week stating that, the Red Devils had made a £15 million bid for the youngster.

But, after recently being commented as saying he would like to play for Chelsea, Alcantara has put pen-to-paper on a new deal with Barcelona, which ties him to the club until 2015.

However, according to his father, Real Madrid was interested in signing the highly-rated Spaniard. Sources said.

Of the new deal, the 45-year-old midfielder father added: “Barcelona called us on Tuesday and they had the deal almost completely written. We came to an agreement quickly.
