Barcelona have on Saturday completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande on a €40 million deal, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

This comes absolutely out of nowhere, because the Paulinho rumors had disappeared for the last few weeks. We knew that Barça were interested in Paulinho at the start of the summer transfer window, but as soon as Neymar went to Paris Saint-Germain, everyone expected Barça to drop their interest in the midfielder.

Apparently, Barça continued to pursue Paulinho’s signature, and that has happened today. We’ll have more details as soon as they become available, but we have to take this with a billion grains of salt, because this is the Mail reporting. Hopefully it’s just another crazy report from the Mail.
