It really didn’t take long for Gerard Piqué’s comments about former Spain teammate Álvaro Arbeloa to provoke a backlash. One of the first to react was ex-‘Los Blancos’ midfielder Esteban Granero, who took to Twitter to reply to the ‘Blaugranas’ centre-back’s dig at Arbeloa at the final whistle of the game against Deportivo.

The Real Sociedad man posted the following message: “Piqué, please forget about your complexes and respect your elders”. Granero posted the tweet along with a photo of Arbeloa posing alongside the Champions League trophy with his ten fingers raised, in reference to Real Madrid’s ten European Cup triumphs.

With this message, Granero has sought to have his say on the words exchanged between Piqué and Arbeloa in the last couple of days.
