Pep Guardiola has apparently stated that his FC Barcelona team does not deserve to be ten points behind Spanish La Liga leaders Real Madrid CF.

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola was keen to admire his players after Sunday’s fantastic 5-1 victory against Valencia, and he told sources that we played very well this evening. We are very happy with how things have gone and how we have played.

Barca side is very happy to have entertained the crowd, and they’re happy that plenty of fans have come to see them; let’s hope that they enjoyed it. He will always think that they’re really lucky to have this generation of players. It’s a privilege to be able to enjoy them because they’re incredible lads.

The team’s 10 points behind but, honestly, Guardiola don’t think they deserve to be 10 points behind the way they’ve played this season. There are many things that have occurred that have resulted in us being this extreme behind and it will be hard to make up those points.

But, they have to try during the three months that are left to come back and they have to try to compete like they did today. Barca won thanks to 4 goals from Lionel Messi and one from Xavi, and Pep gushed that his players are a credit to football.

He knows that in sport you have to test yourself every day; every moment. He doesn’t think there’s a greater example of that than these players. How many sides have won things and then not been able to follow it up the following season!

It’s not the case for these lads, and they’ve done it time and time again. And they have done it in style. He thinks that they’re a credit to the sport and he also think they’re really lucky to be around at the same time as them and to be able to enjoy them on a daily basis.

Lionel Messi had previous unveiled that he and his side-mates have urged Guardiola to sign a new contract with the Catalans.
