FIFA World Cup qualifier – One city that deserves to be qualifier, as the FFA chooses where the Socceroos’ four home ground matches will be played is Newcastle.

Since Nathan Tinkler’s capture of the club Newcastle Jets has been the third most attended club in the league, although having a very poor season and being placed in the eighth most crowded city in the league.

On the March 9, the draw for the fourth round of Asian qualifying will take place in FIFA World Cup – Brazil. Australia will be placed in one of the two groups of five; will host four games in this round.

In 2010 qualifiers, these games were hosted in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The third round of 2014 qualifying saw three home ground matches once again hosted in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The FFA must use the Socceroos, as a vehicle to drive the fame of football in Australia’s different cities, and thus boost the fame of the A-League this is something that, possibly, they haven’t been doing successfully.

An aggressive Socceroos game in Newcastle would build on this incredible support base and would certainly attract at least 25, 000 people, maybe even selling out the 33, 000 seated Aus grid Stadium. By considering this, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle could get a match each in the fourth round.

In future FIFA World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers, the FFA should seem into holding games in Adelaide, Canberra, Perth and even Hobart for the same reasons.

As per the latest reports – Rio, one of Brazil’s most aggressive states has been in a race against the clock since 2008 to pull up drug gangs from the city’s poor neighborhoods before the 2014 World Cup and the Olympic Games in 2016.
