Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has allegedly stated that he made a tactical mistake in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, as Arsenal FC lose third Premier League matches in a row. But, he has secured his verdict to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with Andrei Arshavin.
At Emirates Stadium, Oxlade-Chamberlain had fabulous for the Gunners in Sunday’s Premier League clash and had set-up Robin van Persie’s second-half equalizer. But, Wenger determined to extract the teenager after 74 minutes – a verdict which didn’t go down well with Arsenal followers and contributed to the club’s third English Premier League defeat in a row.
However, the Frenchman admitted that he had good reasons for making the substitution. He can understand that the fans are upset and aggravated about the verdict, especially when it doesn’t work, said Wenger.
According to the sources – That means that you made the right conclusion at the start of the match. Oxlade-Chamberlain had started to exhaust and stretch his calf, and he was sick during the week. You have an 18-year-old child making his first Premier League start and a player whose skipper of his country and they are querying the substitution? Let’s be serious…
People pay for their tickets and they are free to express their emotions. It doesn’t mean they are right at all times. He has to stand up for the substitutions he makes. He doesn’t have to explain every single conclusion. He’s 30 years experience in the job, and he has made 50,000 substitutions.
At the final whistle, Arsene was urged by fans to spend in the transfer market before the January transfer window closes at the end of the month, but he added that spending funds is not the target, as buying good key players is the target.
