Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has tagged Real Madrid CF’s defender Pepe an idiot for emerging to stamp on FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi on Wednesday night’s Copa del Rey Clasico quarter-final first leg clash.
Final Scores: Real Madrid 1 Barcelona 2
Goals-Scored: Ronaldo 11, Puyol 47, Abidal 77
The nightmare returns for José Mourinho’s Real Madrid, as there was a memorable feeling by defeat impotence. The game finished with 2-1 to Barcelona but it was about more than the effect secured with goals from the defenders Eric Abidal and Carles Puyol.
Pepe looked to deliberately tread on Lionel Messi in the second half of their quarter-final first-leg clash at the Bernabeu stadium. And Rooney was one of the first to hit out at the Portugal international for his actions.
On Twitter account, the England international tweeted that Pepe…What an idiot. Sometimes people wind you up. Just minutes later, Messi later set up Eric Abidal, who scored the winner for the Catalans, leading to Rooney tweeting that Hahaaaa…. That goal serves Pepe right!
Cristiano Ronaldo had put Real Madrid ahead in the first half before goals from Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal gave Pep Guardiola’s team a 2-1 advantage to take back to Camp Nou for next Wednesday night’s second leg clash.
