Chelsea FC are apparently to be keen on signing Napoli forward Edinson Cavani or Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain this month.
Edinson Cavani’s representative, Claudio Anellucci, last week declined to rule out a move during the January transfer window and hinted that a contract with Chelsea could be on the cards. According to the source, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to show his hold for manager Andre Villas-Boas by giving the green light to a major fix during the winter and summer transfer windows.
Chelsea FC has already made call with Real Madrid over the sale of £25 million-rated Gonzalo Higuain, who is also thought to be a target for Juventus and Arsenal. And the Blues are still observeing Edinson Cavani, who has been connected with clubs across Europe, including Manchester United and rivals Manchester City.
Gonzalo still has more than four years left on his deal at the Bernabeu club, but his father and rep. last week refused to entirely rule out a move away from the Spanish capital. Jorge Higuain admitted that his son knew nothing about Los Blancos wanting to sell him.
But, when asked about interest from England, he told Chelsea were a great club, which would offer Gonzalo with huge opportunities. And talking to La Stampa, he added that, if someone told us that we are no longer welcome at Madrid, he’s sure that the offers would not be that bad.
Moves for either player could signal the exit of Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba from Stamford Brdige, with both out of deal at the end of the season.
