Liverpool striker once again became controversial and it costs him one-match suspension. It’s the second suspension to Luis in just a week.
The Uruguay striker will be unavailable for Liverpool’s clash against New Castle United in Barclays Premiere League on Friday at Anfield. FA banned 24-year-old player after making an obscene gesture toward Fulham fans during Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on December 5. Additionally, the franchise was fined $31,000 and also received serious warning for its players arguing with referee Kevin Friend over his decision to send off midfielder Jay Spearing in the same game.
Last Tuesday FA banned him for eight matches after being found guilty by an independent commission of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. Luis is considering whether to appeal his suspension.
Initially, every one believed that he would escape from ban but FA followed the Birmingham defender Stephen Carr, who suspended after making a lewd gesture to Villa fans at Craven Cottage in April 2010. Carr was fined £10,000 and suspended.
FA released a statement regarding Luis suspension: “Luis Suarez will begin a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct in relation to the same game. Suarez was also fined £20,000 and warned as to his future conduct following a gesture he made towards the Fulham fans at the end of the fixture.”
