"2012 Olympics Football Schedule"The London 2012 Olympic Games once again welcome the best players in the world for the Football competition. Football will be a major feature of the Olympic program at London 2012.

The 2012 Olympic Football competition will be held at City of Coventry Stadium, Hampden Park, Millennium Stadium, Old Trafford, St James’ Park and the Wembley Stadium. The matches will be started from 25th July to 11th August, where in 504 players, will be participating, out of which 288 are men and 216 will be women Football players, with 2 Medal events (one for men’s teams and one for women.).

According to the official reports in the London 2012 Football, 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams will be participating, starting with group matches and ending with a knockout phase. The men’s competition will be an under-23s event, though each country will be permitted to include 3 older players in their team. There are no age restrictions for the women’s competition.

The London 2012 Olympic Football tournament will be played according to a knockout format, the teams will be divided into 4 groups for the men and three groups in the women’s tournament, and the best 8 teams will qualify for the quarter-finals. From here, the competitions are played to a knockout format: the 2 winning semi-finalists will play for the gold medal, with the 2 losing semi-finalists facing off for the bronze.
