Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has signed a new five-year deal with the Old Trafford club, and ended speculation about a possible move to Real Madrid.
According to the player’s rep, the 23-year-old had been connected with a move to Real Madrid during the summer, after his agent prior this season revealed that any offers for ‘Chicharito’ would have to be considered.
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has been eager on signing Hernandez for some time and the special one was again allied with the Mexico international just last week. United are believed to have offered Hernandez a major pay increase with his new deal, with his agent confirming that the former Chivas Guadalajara forward will be staying with the Premier League champions.
“We have renegotiated Javier’s deal and he is now committed for five-years with Manchester United,” said Hernandez’s agent, Eduardo Hernandez. It was revealed that United were happy to reward Chicharito, after his very good performances last season.
“I will not talk about numbers, but it is a five-year deal. It is a fixed salary with incentives based on the side’s victory in each of the different tournaments.” Javier was not badly paid with his initial deal, but it was his first agreement and, with respect, not similar with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Nani. But, today I can say that the deal has just been signed and everyone is pleased.
“It was never expected that Javier would leave. Discussions began some time ago and United came up with a very good offer and I have nothing, but praise for the way they have recognized Javier’s performances.”
