Nani’s injury-time goal settled from a 2-0 half-time deficit a great Community Shield as Manchester United triumphing over Manchester City with 3-2 at Wembley.
Manchester United made the top set up, forcing a corner in the first five minutes from which Chris Smalling had a chance to bundle the ball over the line but his effort was blocked on the line.
The first signs of derby hostility showed after twenty minutes, when Anderson and Edin Dzeko clashed over a tackle by the Bosnian forward, each earning a yellow card for their angry responses.
Micah Richards was lucky only to receive a yellow card for a wayward lunge on debutant Ashley Young just outside the penalty area. Rooney went close with the free-kick, bending just over the far post from a fixed angle.
Man. City drew first blood, when Joleon Lescott evaded his pointer to meet Silva’s delightful in-swinging free-kick to place into the top corner.
Man united manager Sir Alex Ferguson reacted by adding player into the side at half-time, with Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Tom Cleverley all replaced at the break time.
Manchester United were confidently on peak, and with City trying to get forward to re-establish momentum, Ferguson’s team looked dangerous on the counter part.
The game was intended for penalties, a terrible error from Kompany made Nani to burst through one-on-one with Hart in the final minute, and he made no mistake, rounding the keeper to gap in a simple and justified victory.
