Final Score: FC Barcelona, 2 and Bayern Munich, 0
Barcelona has triumphed the 2011 Audi Cup after a straight forward 2-0 victory against Bayern Munich from the pre-season four-side tournament thanks to goals from their fabulous young playmaker in Munich on Wednesday evening.
The star of the event was Barca’s rising star Thiago Alcantara, who has strike in either half to attack the hosts to defeat, in what a striking all-round show from the 20-year-old.
Bayern Munich fielded nine changes from the team that started the penalty-kick victory against AC Milan, while Barcelona scuffle their squad but included the Andres Iniesta and Thiago in their midfield.
It was the Catalan team, who enjoyed the greater part of control in the opening session, but aside from a David Villa free-kick that was palmed to safety by Butt and a half-chance for Jonathan Soriano, chances on goal were at a premium.
Munich should have taken the lead against the run of play as David Alaba followed clear, but he hesitated with his finish, and Victor Valdes did exceptionally well to spread himself and blocked the effort.
Lastly, Thiago Brace took the first goal lead in 41 minutes and then later he ended the contest with his second goal of the evening by finding space at the edge of the area.
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola’s squad brilliantly sealed the 2011 Audi Cup on German ground.
