Argentina and Nigeria will attack each other for the first time on Nigerian soil, beginning from 7 pm EST tonight inside the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium.
The countdown has begun for the fight between Nigeria and Argentina on 1st of June 2011 at the Abuja Stadium. Despite the absence of Lionel Messi in the Argentine side, Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo has confirmed his wish to file out against the reigning World Footballer of the Year.
This will be the fifth meeting between both countries at senior level, with Argentina having hardly edged three of the previous meetings, while a group stage fight at the international Tournament for the King Fahd Cup in Riyadh in Jan 1995 ended scoreless.
Argentina won with 2-1 score at the 1994 World Cup in the USA and then defeated the Super Eagles with 1-0 score at the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa and Japan respectively.
This is going to be the first grade A match under the Nigeria coach Samson Siasia, he is expected to prove to the whole of Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world that he has a team capable of matching any first class national teams out there?
However, the Argentine national coach Sergio Batista claims, he has named a squad capable of beating the Super Eagles in their own backyard.
