Manchester United, Schalke, Barcelona and Real Madrid games should provide good drama in the UEFA Champions League 2011. The teams will play each other two times in the semi finals first leg and second leg.
It is a Champions League soccer drama in four acts, played out over for five days and with the outcome completely unpredictable. However, the first leg semi finals have been came to end on 27th April, in what promise to be some enjoyable match-ups.
In the Champions League first leg clash Manchester United had a huge victory by defeated Schalke with a 2-0 score on Tuesday night. The midfielder Ryan Giggs and the outstanding Wayne Rooney scored United’s run in a two minute second half spell in the semi-final first leg at the Vetlins-Arena.
The Edwin van der Sar was a huge thorn in the side of United, as a goal keeper and every moment he was keeping United scoreless in a game that was one-sided in the English sides favor. Schalke too were aware of the need for overpowering the attacking flair of their opponents.
There was a huge fear in the united camp that, Schalke might start the form that got them to this stage of the competition. As they have put five goals previous game over Inter Milan at the San Siro in the quarter-final.
Manchester United has folded the home to give the visitors a well deserved victory, if long anticipated lead in the contest.
On the other hand, Barcelona and Real Madrid square off in a much anticipated game of the UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona defeated the Real Madrid with 2-0 goals in the Champions League first leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday night.
Lionel Messi has taken his goals score to 52 in all competitions this season. He has netted the goal post in the 76th and 87th minutes, as a second typically brilliant solo attempts to settle a moody clash which saw Real Madrid defender Pepe sent off in the 61st minute with a red card.
It certainly wasn’t a classic and will be remembered for the sending’s off rather than the actual football. But it’s the La Liga leaders who have the advantage ahead of the second leg at Camp Nou.
The semi finals second leg will be played out over the next week, when the same clubs meet in a semi final of the UEFA Champions League. Barcelona will be home for the second leg against Real Madrid, on 3rd May 2011, and Manchester United will stage the home second leg game over Schalke, on 4th May 2011.
