Tottenham Hotspur Champions League quarter-final adventure is all over, as they were unable to produce the miracle required to overcome Real Madrid. After, a mistake from Heurelho Gomes in the second-half gifted Real Madrid a 0-1 victory and a 5-0 aggregate in the series.

The defending champion Inter Milan was eliminated with a 2-1 loss at FC Schalke at Veltins Arena, Germany.

Real Madrid dragged a fantastic victory against Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League 2010/2011 second leg quarter-final on April 13, kicked-off at 18:45 GMT and the Referee was N. Rizzoli‎.

Real Madrid key player Cristiano Ronaldo’s 40th goal of the season gave a victory that moved the Spanish club into the Champions League semi-finals. The Brazilian goalkeeper let Ronaldo strike a goal in the 50th minute on a long shot that was mishandled by goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes.

The Portuguese winger expected the ball 30 yards from goal post and sent a tentative long range strike towards goal. Which Gomes let slip all the way through his hands and fob watched roll into the back of the net.

Spurs were keen to use the pace of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon to run at the Real Madrid defence and two quick attacks brought two convincing penalty appeals turned down.

Rarely has a side making their first appearance in the UEFA Champions League had such a thriving bow. However, they should be qualifying for next year’s tournament and will be confident of mixing it with Europe’s giants again.

Real Madrid will play host Barcelona in the semi-finals, setting up an extra-ordinary schedule that will see the Spanish rivals meet up four times in 18 days. They play Saturday in the league, then meet next Wednesday in the Spanish Copa del Rey final, before the Champions League games on April 27 and May 3.
