Real Madrid fabulous victory against Tottenham Hotspur with 4-0 score and Schalke defeated the Champion Inter Milan with 5-2 score on 5th April. The second legs of the quarterfinals will be on April 13 and the result leaves Schalke and Real Madrid on the edge of reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history.

A match has started with Inter Milan scoring one of the great Champions League goals by Dejan Stankovic (1′) and Diego Milito (34′) ended with their Champions League ambitions. But, the Schalke came twice from the goals Joel Matip (17′), Eduardo Goncalves de Oliveira (40′ and 75′), Raúl (53′) and Andrea Ranocchia (og 57′) behind in the San Siro to claim a powerful lead in their quarter-final.

Goals from the Emmanuel Adebayor (4′ and 57′), Angel Di María (72′) and Cristiano Ronaldo (87′) brace helped take Real Madrid within touching distance of their first semi-final appearance in the Champions League for eight years with a fabulous victory against 10-man Tottenham Hotspur (goalless).

Schalke is struggling in the German league and enjoyed a big road victory. Raul Gonzalez scored once for the visitors to extend his competition-leading total to 70.

Inter Milan is looking to become the first side in Champions League history to retain the title. They took the lead, after just 29 seconds through a remarkable hit by Dejan Stankovic who smashed a stunning effort into an empty net from 50 meters, after Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer chased out of his area to head the ball clear.

Real Madrid capitalized on the discharge of Tottenham’s Peter Crouch in the 15th minute to ease past the English club. For a side with 10 players for such a long time, it’s an impossible mission, Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho told. But, with the English concept of football, it’s not over.

If the nine-time rivalry winners complete the job next week, they might face Spanish rival Barcelona in the semi-finals.

In Wednesday’s first-leg Champions League quarter-finals, it’s Manchester United against Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk against Barcelona.
