Carles Puyol will be out for Arsenal Clash in Champions League

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has been out of action for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League game against Arsenal, the club has confirmed.
Barcelona’s is preparing for their vital Champions league clash against the Gunners enduring a major setback on Sunday. The news that club captain Carles Puyol will miss the game with a reoccurrence of the knee problem which makes him sidelined, since the middle of January for over 40 days.
The Spanish international, 32-year-old centre-half have been trained with his side on Friday and although, he was not in the team for Saturday’s 1-0 triumph against Real Zaragoza. He was likely to be improved for Tuesday’s game, in which Barcelona have to overcome a 2-1 defeat from the first leg.
After the Barcelona 1-0 win over Real Zaragoza on Saturday, assistant Coach Tito Vilanova stated that Puyol has improved a lot and we did not play him tonight more out of safety measure than anything else. We will see how he is in training on Sunday and Monday.
A statement on the club’s official stated that Carles Puyol will not be available for the Champions League game over Gunners on Tuesday. The captain has been feeling problems in relation to his previous knee injury and so he will not be able to play in this Champions League.
Meanwhile, Barca have confirmed that boss Pep Guardiola, who is suffering from a herniated disc will spend a fifth successive night in hospital this evening due to his back problem.
