Big match on Sunday, February 27, 2011 4:00:00 PM GMT at Wembley Stadium, London the gunners Arsenal will be playing against Birmingham City F.C. in the Carling Cup Finals.
It’s been 47 years Birmingham City F.C. won a Carling Cup and this will be a huge opportunity for them, on the other hand Arsenal who won their last Carling cup finals was in 1993 and after that they had reached the finals in 2007 but lost to Chelsea.
Birmingham City F.C. lost to Liverpool in 2001 and the only time they won the Carling Cup was in 1963 and Arsenal lifted the cup two times 1987 and 1993. These teams have been trying hard to succeed the Carling Cup over a decade and they both had a chance but ended up losing in the finals.
Manchester United was knocked out by West Ham United with a 4-0 defeat and ended their opportunity to win the Carling Cup third straight time.
Arsenal reached the finals beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-1, New Castle United 4-0 then played two games against Wigan Athletic first one was a tie and second match they took it clean 2-0 to reach the semifinal; The two leg semifinal and First game against Ipswich Town was a win with 3-0 at Emirates Stadium and the second game Ipswich Town was better at Portman Road with 1-0.
Birmingham City F.C. had some luck with the first game against Rochdale and won it 3-2 and the second game went into penalties with Brentford when both the teams ended up 1-1 and it was decided by shootouts and Birmingham City F.C. came out better. After which they had to face Aston Villa and completed the match with 2-1. Two leg semifinal matches they played against West Ham United first game at St Andrews Stadium it was 3-1 Birmingham City F.C. won the game and second game at Upton Park West Ham United won the match with 2-1.
