Greece will face Canada in the International FIFA Friendly 2011 football match on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Greece vs Canada match will kick-off at 15:00 GMT at AEL FC Arena – FIFA International Friendly.
Greece holds the daunting task of being pooled with Brazil, Portugal and England in the Friendly matches. In the World Cup 2010 second match against Nigeria, Greece won 2–1 coming from behind after giving way an early goal. Before that, Greece lost 2–0 to South Korea after a miserable performance set apart by extreme long-ball attacks and a lack of offensive creativity.
Greece took second place to Switzerland in Group 2 of UEFA qualification, Angelos Charisteas netted twice as Greece battled back to force a 2-2 draw over North Korea with former European champions Greece.
Canada have comeback after the initial regret matches they face at the hands of South Korea.
However, their chance is very slight allowing for them have to overcome the Greece. Their job will be made a little easier by the fact that Greece will play this game with no particular motives other than conserving their key players.
Canada played three Friendly International matches in this season. They won, drawn and lost a match. In the earlier friendly matches, they have W3 D2 L2 and the last biggest winning match was against Honduras with 2-1in the Friendly International games.
Brampton’s Atiba Hutchinson midfielder has been named to Canada’s men’s soccer team roster, with 50 appearances for Canada. The Canadian Soccer Player of the Year 2010, Hutchinson had a goal and assist in Canada’s last international friendly, a 2-2 tie with the Ukraine in October 2010.
