Steve Kean as Blackburn Rovers Manager: Steve Kean is Blackburn Rovers new manager until the end of the English Premier League. Steve Kean has been installed as Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager until the end of the season, as Sam Allardyce was fired last weak, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.
Kean, 43, was born in Glasgow and started his playing career at home town club Celtic in the mid-80s.
“Venkys London Limited — Blackburn Rovers — has decided to continue with Mr. Steve Kean as Manager, until the end of the season, June 2011.”
Since retiring from playing Kean has worked as a coach for Fulham, Reading, Real Sociedad and Coventry City, gaining experience in the three of most popular European Leagues.
On 22 December, Kean was appointed manager on a contract until the end of the season to prove his abilities as manager. He has taken charge of one match in the last weekend’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United which left Blackburn 12th in the table.
The Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s added to his list of admirers, as chair woman Anuradha Desai said of him: “We have been studying him and have been very impressed.
“He works long hours and is talented at his job. He also works well with our very skilful young players and that is important.”
